The cartenz Pyramid journey, Papua Land
Day one.
a sunny day. starting point Ilaga village, Papua.
it was very humid and hot ! my whole body was tired,it just start for 6 days walking, a long walk.. its almost 4 o'clock pm, 20 kg backpack on my shoulder, oh God, i have been walking for 6 hours! fortunately there were 6 porter accompanied my journey, they lead my way , always smile and talking each other, with around 25 to 35 kg of my equipment in each of their shoulder ! they laugh at me ! it was hard for me to carry on, it just a garden walk for them!
they laugh at a straight black hair student who insist to walk to the mountain ! alone, without my friend...and now i feel sick ! "what time we will take a break ? oh..not so long "Bapa" they call me "bapa" (father) no matter you old or just a young boy they will cal you "bapa"
and after 8 hour walk,finally we took a rest.
unlimited grass land laid in front of my eyes, "how long we will pass this land, i asked. "Oh not long "Bapa" just two days! and than we will follow the mountain track! ok , I hesitate to ask more! open my stuff , i sneak into my sleeping bag, to take a rest, while waiting they cook the instant noodle and rice for all of us !
the weather turn to cold, it's 9 degrees Celcius and I start tremble!
I don't remember how long i was slept, suddenly "Daniel Kogoya", the porter leader wake me up, his face was freak ! "Bapa" we can not continue our journey, we have to go back tomorrow ! the other porter also shout " we will die if we not come back by tomorrow ! hey..hey take it easy, what's going on ? I ask. "Bapa we don't have more matches ! its only 3 stick left ! Impossible! I replied , I bought 1 dozen !
we open and search all of the bag, and no more matches was found!
"it's very cold up there Bapa, and we will die if we continue our journey! it just 3 matches left !
I have no idea what to do, I remain silent..and the rain start falling .. all of us..remain silent..in the heart of Papua.....
